There was a pistol duel between Smith and Jones. Jones fired and missed Smith, whereupon Smith raised his weapon to take aim, and said pleasantly to his opponent: “Jones, would you be so kind as to step a little nearer, as I am shortsighted, and I don’t want to miss you if I can help it. ”
