Brother Marshall, if you did not print the dodger in controversy, join with us in denouncing it as a “shabby trick." If you did print it, confess and acknowledge shame and contrition. * If it worries our neighbor to see everybody, even his most intimate political nd religious friends, p ss by his place on their way to the Republican office when in need of a job of printing, etc.—Republican Wed. we don’t see them. Our intimate religious friends go wh re political preferences load them; odr intimate political friends (?) go where personal objections to us imp 1 them. We hve more than a set-oti to these, in t e number of Republicans vho prefer our work, and patron.ze the Sentinel. So you see, brother. we have no occasion to envy you. o- » Our neighbor seems to have been badly worked up over our reference to the shabbiness of printing dodgers with the announc, meut that a popular minister wo d be in a: tendance at a comedy show, when his well known views are opposed io such institutions. We did not kne w that he printed thrm; it was suffiicient for us to feel that it was a shabby trick in, any printer to thus aid in placing a pastor in such'a compromising position. Marshall does not join witn us in denouncing the “shabby trick"; he does not deny that he perpetrated it; but goes oil'into a lying, senseless cackle about jealousy, backbitiag, and misrepresentation of a more sucoessiul competitor, etc. Our neighbor, however, should remember that his success is not to be attributed to any virtue or ability he posse-ses, and that therefore we have no occasion for envy. Jasper county h .ppens to be Republican; our ha; pens to be in sympathy with that'party, and backed with SI2OO or SISOO per year in county printing, he boasts of success: without it his boast would go a glimmering—his establishment would not operate six weeks. The Republicans have nominated for conncimen, Norman H. Warner, 2.1 dist.; James H. S. Ellis, 3d dist.; Ancil Woodworth, sth dist. For Treasurer, Charles C. Starr. For Clerk, Charles G, Spitler. For Marshal, Marshall L. Warren.
