At the station of the United States Fish Commission at Alpena, Mich., the total number of whitefish eggs collected during the spawning season was 50,920,001). Of this number two employes of the commission took 1,920,000 from Dec. 1 to 6, at Beaver Island, Lake Michigan. The loss of eggs during December was only six per cent, of the total.
