A constable met and escorted them to a hotel and locked them in separate rooms until the irate parents arrived.

Mitchell claims blackmail. —ln the Circuit Court at Columbus Joseph Shepherd, who gave Ills residence at Chicago, and Joseph Stanton, of Pittsburgh, were found guilty of horse stealing, and each sentenced to two years in Jeffersonville. —The famous sand hill, known as Iloosier Slide, at Michigan City, is being excavated and the workmen have found a one-story frame house still standing. Nobody knows how long it has been buried. —Jacob Zook and Joe West located in Kokomo about a month ago aud opened an office. They sold county rights for the manufacture of a patent water-proof paint. They exchanged rights for property and good paper to the amount of about SIO,OOO and skipped.
