Ruse of Mabile Car-Drivers.
A reformed car-driver, who worked for the street-car company of Mobile, Ala, in the days when paper currency was all the go, says that the company introduced the patent boxes, which for a t .me headed off the boys effectu illy in their “knock-ing-down” lares. But ths victory of capita! over labor was short-lived,for the drivers supplied themselves with large grasshoppers, which they tie! by the wings w.th a string and shoved down into the box, and when Mr. Gr s’hopper grabbed on to a dime they jerked him back out of tin box. This was kept up for some time with great success, until one day the strin; broke and lett the bird in the box, which gave the snap a w ay. T&ras N i sl ings.
