Peculiarities of the Fig. A California paper mentions some of the peculiarities of the fig. It has no blossom, and evidently requires breathi«r places, for from the little button at the end, there are minute ducts or at spaces which run right through the fruit and clear into the stem. If, ir drying, tho fig is not placed as it grew on the tree inc fruit sours and molds. The fruit does not hang from the tree b>t inclines upward, held by the stem, and this button, or mouth, opens toward the sun If not so placed when being dried the button is shaded anl •he fruit then snoils.
