The Milwaukee Sentinel remarks amiably: “You Democrats always did hate Corp ral Tanner. Three of the miscreants who shot a couple of the Corporal’s legs off when he was fighting far the stars and stripes are now running for Gov*, ernor, Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General on the Republican ticket in the v ry State where the Corporal had a couple of his legs shot off, and the platform adopted by the convention that nominated these three Confederate brigadiers declares that “the disabled ex-confederates, or the widow or orphans of dead Confederate soldiers” will find sympathy and suecoi in tin ranks of the Republican party.
