MEMORIAL DAY, 1889.
Order of March and Programme ot Exereises. Preparations for the observance of Memorial Day are pretty well completed and it is hoped that the whole public will avail themselves of the opportunity to do something, if it be ever so little to commemorate the noble sacrifice f'T the public benefit, of our fallen braves. Those who donate or gather flowers should take tham to ♦he Court House at 8 o’clock a. m. 6n Memorial dav. And all who can are invited to assist at making wreaths, Coquets, <fcc., from he evergreens and flowers. The Sunday Schools, Lodges i.nd Fire Company are invited to participate and an invitation is hereby extunded to the Sunday Schools of the surrounding country to attend as organized bodies and move with the procession from the Court House. The Lodges are invited to designate a member of their respective organizations to represent them in a short address Mrs. Healey is selected to thus represent the W. R. 0. The committee to secure, instruct and manage the decoration of graves are: latJDivision, Mesdames Lydia Baylor and Mary Dexter; 2d Division, Misses Clara Reeve and Hattie Flynn; 3d Division, Mesdames Eva Hemphill and Lettie Sparling. Organized bodies to assemble at their respective Halls at 1 o’clock p. m. and at 1:30 move to the northeasterly part of the court house satiate. t. O. O. F. next to Washington street, then the K. of P., Firemen, Post and Corps in order. At 1:40 the procession will form and march in the following order: Sunday Schools, Details for decorating graves, I. O. O. F., K. of P.,. Firemen, Soldiers, unorganized citizens on foot, Relief Corps, vehiclgs.
Position at- Cemetery: Stage for speakers and those who lead the singing in the east half of the circle. Next to the stage, in the circle, organizations of children. From the stage leading north, the three divisions for strewing flowers; To the N. E. of circle, soldiers ;N. W. of circle, W. R. C,; 8. E. of circle, Fire Department; 8. of circle, 1.0. O. F.; 8. W. of circle, K. of P.— Surrounding these but keeping an open passage way to the north, the unorganized public. The comfort of all requires that they tend rather to scatt. £ than to crowd, and all who have any thing to say are reminded that it is impossible to say it too loudly—the whole audienc 1 should be enabled to hear without having to crowd together in the heat for that purpose.
