THE COPPER MONOPOLY.

[ Courier-Journal. ] The owners of the American protected copper mines who have assisted in the creation of the copper trust, are reminded by the New York Times that they said to he Kmericrn people some years ago: “Only shut out by law this foreign* copper and in the course of time competition among ourselves will surely cause our copper to be sold at reasonably low prices. Give us the home market, and you shall become independent of thefore : gn producers of copper.” Now the foreigners have gobbled dl the copper and fused with the American monopoly. It is a melting spectacle for all men who take monopolies *t their word.
