SHOVING THE QUEER.
The Inc ’ian polis Sentinel says: “John Barnes and James Sapp of Goodland, Newton county, who were brought here by Maj. Carter, charged with counterfeiting, are about twenty-five y»_ars of age, and at the time of their arrest S4OO in counterfeit bills were found on their persons. They were given a preliminary examination by commissioner Van Buren, and in default of SIOOO bail were committed toj ail. The money found in their possession was mostly of a five dollar denou in .tion and wass. illfully made. Maj. Carter reports that Newton c >uniy lies been doerally flooded w.th the stuff, $2,000 ot it having been put in circulation, and th ( .t even the banks of the county Tad accepted it. The young men are highly connected, and one of them was married only two months ago. It is thought that they did not manufacture the bills themselves, but procured them from the East.” •
