It is said Ingalls is preparing a letter emphatically declining the Piepnblican nomination far the Presidency. The Democrats of Kankakee township have nominated Esquire Maguire for Trustees. Mr. M. is a man of considerable ability, and if elected, would perhaps be the best informed and most accomplished Trustee in our county.
In Brief, and to the Point.
Dyspepsia is dreadful. Disordered Kver is misery. Indigestion is a foe to good nature. The human digestive appaiatus is ane of tne most complicated and wonderful things in existence. It is easily pot out of order. Greasy food, tou h food, sloppy tood. bad 20okery, mental worry, late hours, irregular habits, and many other thing 3 which ought not to be, have made the American pecple a nation of dyspeptics. But Green’s August Flower has done a wonderful work in reforming this sad business and making the American people so healthy that they can enjoy their meals and be happy Kemember:- No happiness without health. But Green’s August Flower brings health and happiness to the dyspeptic. Ask your druggist for a bottle. Seventy-five oents.
Pilot Grove, March 1 , ’BB. Owing to the bad condition of the roads, business of all kind, is somewhat dull We are informed that Mrs. J. Wright, who has been dangerously ill during the past month, is now in a fair way of recovery. Also J. D. Spohr, wbojhas been very sick, is at this writing much better. “We seldom regret having been too mild, too cautious, or too modest; but we often regret having been too violent, t~»o precipitate, or too proud,” While playing about the yard a short time ago, little Goldie Schanlaub was attacked and bitten on the head by the venerable house dog attached to the place. The wound, however, was very slight and no fears are entertained as to the result. Ch- rlos Wolcott arrived here from Michigan a tew clays ago, where ne has been visiting the past two months. He informs us that at the time of his leaving that place the ground was covered with snow to the depth of 36 inches. At our last local election the Democrats succeeded in electing their entire ticket with the exception of one justice. This, in a township where the Republicans have about fifty majority, we. think should inspire the Democrats to continue to make good nominations, and make a good fight at the coming spring election. We are in favor of nominating a straight ticket, and ix defeated, be defeatec like men. Our Democrat girls, “bless the purty eyes of ’em,” are talking o: organizing a Frances Folsom Club, with a view to taking an aotive par; in the coming campaign. This settles it. Grover will be elected
again, sure.
The Reform Programme—We are not legislating; for Utopia. We are, as the President said, canfroated by a condition, not a theory. Absolute fre» trade is proposed by no one, nor will it be. The abolition of suck protection as is thought to tell for American mechanics and workingmen is not now in the question. What is proposed is to give cheaoer materials to our in tustries, so that our manufactures may thrive; to abolish senseless taxes that make our productions dear, and to remove as far as {ossible, barriers that s ut us out from cheap food, fuel and clothing on one hand, and from profitable foreign markets on the other.—N. Y. Star.

When Spring Comes look at the end of winter. Why is it that cf two horse blankets which look and feel equally well one won’t wear at all, and the other wears well ? This % Trade Mark^. Horse Blankets which are strong and have a reputation are always imitated in poor qualities which look like them, 1 but having fewer warp threads are not as strong. f Some dealers buy these poor imitations for a few cents less and by saying they are “just as good,’* sell them at the same price as the strong blankets to parties who do not know the difference. You cannot tell whether horse blankets are strong by the look or feel, as the warp threads do not show on the face. How then are you to know? In order that you can tell a strong blanket from a weak one,the manufacturer of 5,4 Horse Blankets sews the above Trade Mark inside of each blanket. This is a guarantee that it is the strongest blanket made for the money and will wear well. Many poor imitations have been sold as 5.4 blankets. Remember none are genuine unless the Trade Mark is sewed inside.
