The conversation had been about children in general, and the mother told the following story about her own child, a little tot not more than 3 years of age: “The other night she was kneeling by my side and s .ying her prayer of ‘Now I lay me down to sleep.’ She got as far as ‘if 1 should die before I wake,’when she stoped, and, being in a hurry to place her in bed, I said: ‘Well, go on; what comes next?’ The little eyes were sparkling with earnestness and deep thought, and after having apparently settled the question in her own mind she said, in her baby way: ‘A fooneral.’”— Philadelphia Call. ; A Frenchman, aged 87, still amuses himself by breaking colts up in New Hampshire.
