McDonald, son of ex-Sen-ator McDonald of Indiana, died in Washington last week. The second day’s session of the Indiana Legislature was attended by a series of partisan wrangles. The Democratic Senate declined to meet the Republican House in joint session to hear the Governor’s message, it having come to their ears that the Republican managers had planned a coup d’etat to be sprung upon the Senate. In consequence, the Governor did not deliver his message orally, as u-ua , but sent printed copies of it to each branch of the General Assembly. The Senate adopted a resolution declaring that that body recognized no vacancy in the office of Lieutenant Governor prior to the last election, and refusing to join in the canvass of the vote for the candidacy for the office. The Republican majority of the House, in retaliation for the rules adopted by the Senate, adopted a bet of regulations fully as arbitrary as those of the upper body. The effect in either house will be that the majority can summarily and quickly unseat any member of the minority, wrightfully or wrongfully.
