Balston, the grocer, calls upon Juckles, and, while in the drawing-room, Juckles’ little boy comes in and says: “You ain’t got a bird like we have,” (pointing at a cage). Balston —That’s a fact, my little man. Boy—His name uster be Jim tell we gunter trade with you, an’since then pa has been callin’ him Balston. Balston—Ah, and why does he do that? Boy—Pa says he calls the bird Balston because he’s always got such a big bill. Funny, ain’t it? Balston says that it is very funny, but he knows that when the next monthly account is made out somebody is going to suffer.— Arkansaw Traveler.
