Peter Zingerle, a maniac Frenchman, wsuj arrested at Washington, charged with intent to kill the French Minister, M. Roustan. Zingerle left Pittsburg for the purpose of removing the Minister.

The President has appointed Edward

Young of the District of Columbia to be Consul at Nova Scotia.

The First Comptroller of the Treasury has made a decision that whenever laborers, workmen, or mechanics, employed in any of the executive departments, are required to work more than eight hours a day, they are entitled to extra compensation for the extra work unless there is a contract with the head of the department to the contrary.
