Orendorff, of Springfield, has jbeen elected Chairman of the Illinois Democratic State Central Committee. Gen. James A. Beaver, nominated by ithe Republicans for Governor of Pennsylvania, escaped being President of the United |States by declining to accept a nomination with Gen. Garfield at Chicag i. The lowa Democratic State Convention adopted a resolution favoring the appeal of the prohibitory liquor law and the establishment of local option with high license. The Greenbackers were given the selection of candidates for treasurer and clerk of the Supreme Court The Democrates nominated Cato Sells for Secretary of State and Paul Guelich for Auditor. Frank P. Bradley is the nominee for clerk of the Supreme Court. The Hon. Knute Nelson has been renominated for Congress by tiie Republicans of file Fifth Miunnesota District The Rev. H. L. McKinney has been named for Congress by the Democrats of the First New Hampshire District.
