Democratic Gounty Gonvention:

Pursuant to call the Democratic County Convention ' met at the Court House, in Itensselaer, Saturday, June i tli, 1880, at 2 o'clock p. m., and was called to order by H. A. Barkle , Chairman of the Democratic Central Committee. Pi. Pi. PeTit, of Remington, was chosen Cairman, and Jas. W. McEwen Secretary, of the convention. After the customary preliminaries, the convention proceeded to the selection of a County Ticket. For Clerk —Jno. C. Chilcote, of Rensselaer, and Frank Hunt, of Gillam, were announced. Both gentlemen promptly declined, and the convention proceeded to the selection of a candidate For Auditor.---Lucius Strong, of Newton iownship, was placed in nomination by acclamation. For Sheriff —Washington Scott, of Milroy, Adam Hess, of Gillam, and John C. Chilcote, of Rensselaer, were named, but declined the nomination.

For Treasurer—W. M. Hoover was placed in nomination bv acclamation, and with cheers. For Recorder—M. A. Makeever, of Newton, John B. Lefler, of Hanging Grove, and David W. Shields, of Union, were presented for the consideration of the convention and three ballots had with the following result: FIRST BALLOT. Makeever,. ■ 22| Lefler, 28 Shieds, 35 £ SECOND BALLOT. Makeever, 27 Lefler, 22 Shields, 37 THIRD BALLOT. Makeever, 19 Lefler, 13 Shields, 52 On motion, the nomination of Mr. Shields was made unanimous. For Coroner —No name was presented. For Surveyor—No candidate. For CCommissioner, 2d Dist.—' George H. Brown, jr., of Barkley township, was given the nomination by acclamation. On motion the Central Committee was empowered to fill the vacancies in the ticket. Delegates were then chosen, as follows: To State Convention—Ralph Fendig, of Rensselaer; Wm. H. Wells, of Carpenter; J. F. Spriggs, of Walker; Lucius Strong, of Newton, and John Tillett, of Gillam.

Congressional Convention- Jos. G. Hunt, F. M. Hershman, Henry A. Barkley, Nelson Handle, Jas. W. McEwen, E. C. Nowels, Chas. Paxton, Frank \Y. Fisher, Wash. Scott, James Wiseman and M. J. Castel 10. Senatorial Convention— Same as to Congressional. Judicial Convention—Ad. Hess, Robert Zick, John G. Culp, Ja . W. Douthit, John Baker, Preston E. Davis, Chas. Loshbaugh, Geo. W. Casey and Chas. G. Austin. Representative Convention—To be appointed by township committee in eac-h township. Delegates present at convention

to which they are appointed will fill any vacancies in delegations. On motion, adjourned.
