NEWTON ITEMS.
The weather has been fine during tiie past week. Corn planting is almost completed and corn plowing has begun. A great many farmers had to plant over the ground planted before the recent heavy rains. The outlook is for a heavy yield of small fruit. Mary AVuerthner has a class in music here and at Mt. Ayr. A number of persons were baptized at No. 6 last Sabbath, Rev. David Handley, officiating. Sabbath school at No. 6 every Sunday forenoon. Everybody invited. The hail accompanying the rain storm of week before last did no damage here. Horses are troubled with distemper this spring Harvest will be early this year, probably before the corn has received sufficient tending. Some of the teachers hereabout contemplate attending the Normal this summer. Democrat. May 25, ’B6.
