Prospect for wheat good. Health, in this vicinity, generally good. The schools are in a prosperous condition. Literary Friday night, May 7th, at Burns’. The Democrats of Rensselaer met at the Court House last evening and placed in nomination the following Corporation ticket: Trustees- First district Allen Catt; 2d district, James’"-’’. Randle; 4th district, C. B. Steward. Treasurer— Moses Tuteur. Cierk—A. F. Long. Marshal— Peter Minicus. The natural scramble for place which actuates the average Republican the country over, and the confest likely to be sprung by the rival aspirants and their friends, attracted fair turn out, of all parties at the I,epublican gathering at the Court House Monday evening. The proceedings were conducted on the free and easy system. As a consequence more votes were cast than there were voters, and the following ticket is the outcome: Trustees— First district, R. P. Benjamin; 2d district, C. F. Wren; 4th district, Wm. Greenfield. Treasurer —C. C. Starr. Marshal —Wm. Warren. Clerk- C. C. Warner. The new display of Goods, selected and bough tby such a combination of experience and taste as Mr. and Mrs. Ludd Hopkins may justly claim to have, will certainly sell at the prices offered.
