Domestic Compliments.
“John,” said Mrs. Smith to her husband as she tied on her new bonnet, “do you think it is safe for me to go to church to-night without an escort^” “Certainly, my dear,” replied her husband; “the ordinance prohibiting geese from running at large was repealed last week.” “Humph! you think you are awfully smart!” retorted his nrife. “But, thank goodness! fools are compelled to stay at home!” “No, my dear,” responded the husband, “the ordinnance against fools running at large was repealed', too. There is nothing at all to prevent you from going to town, or to the devil if you want to do so.” “Very well, John, I’ll go to* you, then, after my return!” —Neioman Independent.
