S. B. Coen, formerly of this place, is keeping a livery and feed stable at Larned, Kansas. Geo. Dexter will soon meve to Judge Hammond’s farm, east of B ensselaer. Ben. Tuteur has purchased the S. T. Warren property. Bev. McReynolds will reside in it. Noble J. York, of this place has been elected Grand Master Workman of Grand Lodge of Indiana, A. O. U. W. Peter Hepp, an old Democratic friend, of bite county, called in to see us the other lay. Miss Libbie Walton returned Tuesday from a visit to friends in Tennessee. While engaged in packing up goods preparatory to removal to Kansas, Mrs. E. S. Woods, the othday, threw a number of packages? one of which happened to be powder, into the fire, and was considerably burned about the face. A meeting of the friends'ot Sunday School work will be held at the M. E. Church, Rensselaer, on Tuesday, March 1886, at 1 o’clock, p. m. Friends of the cause are invited to attend.
TRIBUTES Monticallo Herald: The news of the death of Miss Anna McEwen will be received with regret here where her childhood days we.e spent and she was highly esteemed. White County Democrat: News of the death of Miss Anna McEwen at Rensselaer reached us last week too kite for publication. She was the daughter of Mr. and ?drs. Jas W. McEwen, and her girlhood was spent in Monticello.She has been ailing for many long months and met her death at the hands of that dread disease, consumption. A large circle of friends, in Monticello mourn her loss and sympathize with her parents in their deep affliction.
Died.—At the home of his parents, i ■ this (Marion) township, February 23d, 1886, Andrew AV., son of John Shields, aged 15 yrs. 6 months and 30 days. At her home, in Morocco, Newton county, Indiana, Sunday morning, February .21st, 1886, Mrs. Louise G. Anderson, sister of Mrs. D. C. (dopkins, of this place, in the 67ih year of her age. Benj. Martin, formerly a resident in Union township, this county, recently died in Kansas. Capt Thos. Canby, who was with Gen. Harrison at Tippecanoe, and on other battle fields, died at the residence of his son, Samuel Canby, in Remington, this county, Friday of last week, aged about 98 years. Ed. Dem.
