EXCITEMENT UNABATED.

Proof that That Physician's Terrible Confession Is True. [Cleveland (0.) Herald.] Yesterday and the day before we copied into our columns, from the Rochester (N. Y.) Democrat and Chronicle, a remarkable statement, 'made by J. B. Henion, M.D., a gentleman who is well known in this city. In that article Dr Henion recounted a wonderful experience which befell him, and the next day we published from the same paper a second article, giving an account of the excitement in Rochester, and elsewhere, caused by Dr. Henion’s statement It is doubtful if any two articles were ever published which caused greater commotion both among professionals and laymen. Since the publication of these two articles, having been besieged with letters of inquiry, we sent a communication to Dr. Henion and also to H. H. Warner & Co., asking if any additional proof could be given, and here it is: Gentlemen: I owe my life and present health wholly to the power of Warners Safe Cure, which snatched me from the very brink of the grave. It is not surprising that people should question the statement I made (which is true in every respect), for my recovery was as great a marvel to myself as’to my physicians and friends. * * * J. B. Democrat and Chronicle of the 31st of December, a statement made by J. B. Henion, M D., narrating how he had been cured of Bright’s disease of the kidneys, almost in its last stages, by the use of Warner’s Safe Cure. I was referred to in that statement, as having recommended and urged Dr. Henion to Sthe remedy, which he did, and was cured. e statement of Dr. Henion is true, so far as it concerns myself, and I believe it to be true in all other respects. He was a parishioner of mine and I visited him in his sickness. I urged him to take the medicine, and would do the same again to any one who was troubled with a disease of the kidneys and liver. The Art of Sitting Down.

Not one woman out of a thousand is able to sit down in a chair gracefully and elegantly. A few, a very few, sit down, and their opposite neighbors cannot determine whether their shoes are of English, French, or American manufacture, but these are quite the exception, and in a very small majority. In England all young girls are as regularly taught to sit down properly, just as they are taught how to play the piano and sew, and that is by practice. Consequently female shoe leather is by no means so apparant as it is in this country. At dances, more particularly, this is noticeable, as movements there are more hurried, and the place, music, and conversation hinder attention to minor details, and the display of ankle is 'somewhat alarming, and often by no means captivating. Very few women have really pretty feet, and the best macle and best fitting chausure will fail to hide defects in the pedal extremities. Girls do not think of this when they “flop” down into a chair, as many of them do, and should practice the art of sitting down before a cheval glass before they perform in public. At a dance recently given in this city a man present took the trouble during the german to walking round the room and make a count of the various degrees of open work hose visible. Out of about thirty couples only five girls knew how to sit down, the rest showing more or less ignorance or indifference in or to the art. That men do not like to see girls sitting down like this is certain, as the remarks that are constantly made testify, and surely they need only be once told of it to rectify what detracts seriously from the appearance of many a sweet, pretty, and simple girl.— New York Hour. Only Half Alive.

There are hosts of men and women who, to coin a phrase, are only half alive. That is to say, they have seldom, if ever, any appetite, are nervous, weak, fidgety and troubled by numberless small pains and aches. In the presence of vigorous, exuberant vitality they seem mere pygmies. Such persons are usually fond of frequently dosing themselves, swallowing in the course of the year enough drugs to stock an apothecary’s shop of average dimensions. This, of course, defeats instead of furthering the end in view, viz., the recovery of health and vigor. Were they to seek it from an unfailing source of vitality, Hostetter's Stomach Bitters, how different would be their case. For Hotel Men.

A case of interest to hotel men and commercial travelers was recently decided by a St. Louis judge. It was as follows: “Black, a commercial traveler, put up at the Everett House. He carried with him samples usually carried by drummers. When he fell behind in his board bill the proprietor took possession of the goods under a hotel keeper’s lien. Black brought action to replevy, claiming that he was not the owner of them. The court decides that in absence of notice to the effect that the goods were not the plaintiff’s, the fact that he (Black) had the rightful possession thereof when he came to the hotel, and that the fact of such possession placed the ownership ostensibly in the plaintiff, upon which he could obtain credit to their apparent value, must give the hotel keeper a lien from which to satisfy any indebtedness that may arise.” The Michigan Agricultural College people are testing the vitality of seeds buried in sealed bottles six years ago. The seeds which thus far prove to have most vitality are those of common weeds, their percentage being from 90 to 100, while plant seed did not germinate freely.
