SOUTHERN.
A narrow-gauge train was thrown from the track near Gastonia, N. C., twelve persons being seriously wounded. Mayor Fulton and Colonel B. G. Lowe, editor of tho News, engaged in an encounter at Galveston, Texas. Tho Mayor broke a stick over Lowe’s arm, and Lowe securing tho broken portion, both men belabored each other soundly. Before the body of John Harvey was interred at Atlanta, Ga-, it was noticed that the coffin was very light, and, the lid being removed, tho discovery was made that sand had been substituted for the remains, which, it is supposed, tho doctors had stolen. Thomas Lotts was appointed receiver for the Gallego Mill Company, Richmond, Va, Liabilities, $070,000. John H. Aufdemarle, late of the SubTreasury at New Orleans, was indicted for embezzling $25,000 of public funds. Mayor P. Booker Bead, of Louisville, Ky., and City Wharfmaster Creamer were arrested for a fist-fight on a public street.
