A CRUEL MOTHER.

She Receives a Severe Sentence, and Lose* the Position She Once Held in Society. Cleveland dispatch. At Delaware, Q., to-day Mrs. William Dunlap, who had formerly moved in good society, being a member of a leading church, was sent to jail for sixty days to subsist upon bread and water and fined SIOO for cruelty to her stepchildren. The story of her cruelty as brought out at the trial is most shocking. A few days ago she covered the body of one of the children —a little girl—with soft soap, pumped cold water on the little one, and scrubbed her with a broom. The other child—a boy—had been suspended in a deep well by a rope. Other cruelties were clearly proven by the Humane Society in the prosecution. The woman was followed to the jail by a crowd of 300 people, who jeered, and hooted, and talked freely of tar and feathers.
