W. Ingrain will assume con* trol of a Carpenter township school next Monday. Fendig has just received a superb lot of Boots and Shoes which he offers at prices to suit the times. Dr. W. !H. Weir, editor of the North Judson Banner, was in Rensselaer one day this week. Rob Porter has returned from Ladoga Normal School, and will teach in Barkly township. Jay W. William* and daughter May returned from Ohio Wednes, day evening.

Marsh Rhoads caught an B|‘ lb. salmon in the Kankakee one day this week. He says he was unable to get it into the boat without the £id of F. B. Meyer, who grabbed it with both hands and saved the prize. It is now considered that the ‘grab’ plan, for big fish, is superior to the ‘angle-worm’ system recommended by Judge Healey.
