WLDAX SEPTEMBERII.IBBS. The north-bound day train now passes Rensselaer at 4:53 p.m. Mr. Win. Florence is visiting in Kansas. Miss Ella Buchanan, of Monticello, is visiting friends in Rensselaer. Fendig hes just received a superb lot of Boots and Shoes which he offers at prices to suit the times. Willis J. lines and daughter Etta of Nebraska, are visiting relatives and friends in this and White counties. Farmers are referred to Gran ville Moody, of Barkley township as to the responsibility of the ‘Home Nursery.” Samuel Borchardt, Esq.,of Georgia, at one time a clerk in the store Of his uncle, Ralph Fendig, at this place, is visiting his friends here.
The Francesville Fair will com" mence on the 22d Sept. There is a good attendance at he Fair to-day. Ida Gibson, of Lafayette, is visiting Rensselaer friends. -A— • Rev. J. B. Crowe, of Remington, will preach at the Presbyterian church, in Rensselaer, on Saturday of this week, at 2 o’clock, p. m., also the following Sabbath, morning and evening. Communion services. J. G. Culp, of Barkley township, is trying the virtues of Waukesha, Wisconsin, springs. A. L. Marble has set up, in the Shanghai building, Rensselaer, one of his new patent steam renovators. We have seen some of the work turned out and mst say that it meets the demand, removing all impurities. Mr. M. extends an invitation to all to inspect his work and then leave orders. Jere Healey, of Frankfort, is visiting home and friends at this place. The Delphi Journal pronounces Jere “the handsomest young man in Frankfort” When you come to the Fair call in and see the nice lot of new Hats, Caps, Boots, Shoes, Ready-made Clothing, Dress Goods, ets., at prices to suit. At Fendig’s. Owing tj the very unfavorable weather Tuesday and Wednesday, Fair will not close till Saturday evening.
The citizens of Marion township wiL have an opportunity to subscribe for General Grant’s Book, through the agency of W. H. Shaw, of Remington, who will wait unon them in a few days. Three hundred and one pupils of the Rensselaer Public Schools were in attendance on Tuesday last, the second day. An extensive stock of new Clothing just received and opened out at Fendig’s, Kohler is selling tile as follows: 3-inch, sl2; 3|-inch, sls; 4-inoh, sl7; 5-inch, $24; 6-inch, S3O; 7-inch S4O; 8-inch, S6O. These prices are away down. Kohler can’t be beat. If you want good clothing at low figures, call and examine the large stock just opened out at Fendig’s. In the matter of supply, variety in styles, quality of goods, and low prices, Fendig can not be surpassed. All are invited to call, examstock and ascertain prices, before purchasing elsewhere. Mrs. John Cooper died at her home in Barkley township, Sept. 2d, aged about 75 years. Uncle John has the sympathy of a large circle of friends. A young lady writes to our neighbor that the failure to elect a Prohibition ticket she is a staunch Republican, which calls fort the ‘taffy.’
