Miss Clara Dexter, of Denver, Colorado, is visiting her brothers George and Harvey, in Rensselaer. John Burke and Frank Robinson, after securing titles to a quarter section each, in Kansas, returned to this place one day last week. Sheriff Yeoman has the temporary struture erected for the execution of Wartner. Rev. B. F. Ferguson will preach at the F. W. Baptist church, Sunday, May 10, at 11 o’clock, A. M. Judge Hammond will occupy the handsome r nd commodious rooms over Makeever’s Bank, as a law office. Tommy K ox has gone back to Chilicothe, Ohio. “A pleasant mannered and intelligent looking colored man,” is the loving, polite and high-toned reference of the “Kid” to a negro book agent. If it had been a white Democrat, the “kid” would have sugg sted to his readers that they refuse him permission to enter their houses. Will Harding, formerly a Rensselaer boy, now of Magnolia, Mississippi, called iu to see us one day this week. Mr. Charles Battleday and Miss Melissa A. Sayler were married at the residence of the officiating clergyman, Rev. B. F. Ferguson, in Rensselaer, May 6th. Syl. Healey has a house on Front street, to rent, suitable for dwelling or business. Our old friend, John G. Culp, is talking of selling his farm, on account of poor health of himself and wife. He has one of the best grain and stock farms in the county,- and is offering to sell on very reasonable terms. He has everything on the farm very convenient. It is probably not surpassed by any in the county for conveniences.
