Why the Little Jesus Was There.

Bob had put his little shoe in the fireplace. His “petite mamma” was dreadfully ill, and the “little Jesus” who brings the Christmas love to all good children did not dare to do it this time. Bob, after rubbing his eyes early next morning, goes toward the fireplace and finds near his shoe surrounded by all sorts of lovely dainties, a little brother, rosy from top to toe, in a little cradle that is as white as white can be. Bob opens his eyes very wide before this unexpected treasure, and running toward his pale mamma, who is lying in her bed he < ries: “Mamma look here—tlje little Jesus, couldn’t climb back up to Heaven!”
