James Guana Blaine directed suit for libel tojbe brought against the Indiananapolis Sentinel, and designated the U. S. The Mother of Charles Stewart Parnell Urges Irish Americans to Support Cleveland. The story that Mrs. Parnell, daugh ter of Commodore Stewart—“ Old Ironsides’—of our navy and mother of the noted Irish agitator, came to this country to dispose of the Irish vote in the coming election, and would influence many Irishmen to approve the Republican ticket, is as untruthful as many others of the Blaine party’s yarns. In reply to a Herald reporter who said to ner, “Then you think that Irishmen would best serve their own interests by vut ing the Democratic ticket?” Mrs. Parnell said:—“Most assuredly I do. There can be no question that tne Democratic party is the farty for the workingmen to support, and the party which will best care for the citizens of foreign birth,” This sounds like “Old Ironsides” himselt, who was earnest a democrat as this country every produced.—N. Hundreds of testimonials attest their grest curative powers. Only fifty cents a bottle at F. B. Meyer’s. -Aug. 29-2
The Republicans have evidently bought up the Irish World and it is now supporting Blaine, and the Republican papers are copying liberally tom it. December 10th, 1881, when Blaine was Secretary of state this same Irish World, said; “In this flunkeyism to the British Government James G. Blaine has refused to protect American Citizens whow he was bound, by every principle of law* to extend protection to. Such a man has no conception of what is due to the honor of the United States, and should never again be placed in a position where he can disgrace our Government.”—LaPorte Argus.
