Mutton Chops. —Trim off all the skin and roll each chop in beaten egg, then in cracker canunbs, and fry in hot lard. Cook until brown. Squash Griddle Cakes. —Two cupfuls of cooked squash that has been passed through a sieve, a scant pint of milk, two beaten eggs, two spoonfuls of sugar, a pint of sifted flour, a teaspoonful and a half of baking powder and a little salt. Beat together until smooth and light. Crumpets. —Two pints of flour, one and a half teaspoonfuls of sugar, one teaspoon ful of salt, two and a half teaspoonfuls of baking powder, two eggs, one pint of milk, one teaspoonful of cinnamon. Mix thoroughly, adding the eggs and milk last. Stir to a stiff batter, and bake on a hot, well greased, griddle. Rice Milk. —Pick and wash the rice carefully; boil it in water until it swells and softens; when tfe water is boiled away, add some mill? It may be boiled entirely in milk, by setting the vessel in which the rice is in in boiling water; sweeten with white sugar and season with nutmeg. It also may be thickened with a little flour or beaten egg. Veal Stew. —Cut the veal into small strips. Cut a dozen large potatoes into thin slices, place a layer of veal on the bottom of a stewpan, season and then place a layer of potatoes on top. Continue until all is used. Over the last layer of veal spread thin slices of salt pork. Cover with water and cook slowly one hour and a half. Moths can be successfully removed from earpets in the following manner: Wring* coarse towel out of clear water, spread it smoothly on the carpet, iron it dry with a good Lot iron, repeating the operation wherever the moths are supposed to be. No need to press hard, and the ply or color of the carpet will not be injured as the moths are destroyed by the heat and steam. A good mixture to have in the house is composed of aqua ammonia two ounces, soft water one quart, saltpetre one teaspoonful. ska' ng soap one ounce. Scraj e the soan fine before mixing the other ingredients and allow it to stand a few hours laefore using. It is sure death to bed bugs if applied to the crevices which they inhabit; it will remove paint that is mixed with oil without injuring the finest fabrics, and will remove grease from carpets by covering the spots with the mixture and after springing and rubbing it thorouglily wash it off with clear cold Water. Mutton Chops. Beat each chop flat, and lard each with strips of salt pork, drawn quite through, so as to protect both sides of the chop. Put into a saucepan, sprinkle with minced onion, pepper and parsley,' and barely cover with any weak broth yon may chance to have. Pnt on the saucepan lid, set it where it will not boil under one hour. Then increase the heat, and simmer half an hour, or until tender. Take up the chops and keep hot Thicken gravy with brown floor, and add the juice of one lemon. Pnt back the chops, and heat to a weak boil. Lay the chops on the dish, poor over the gravy and serve. ,
