Steward was chosen Chairman, and James W. McEwen, Secretary. Ezra C. Nowels, Chairman of the Democratic Central Committee stat ed the business of the aonventioo .o be the selection of Delegates to represent the Township in County nominating Convention to meet in in Rensselaer, Saturday, Aug 9tb, 1884. The following named persons were selected: Allen Catt, John C. Chilcote, E. P Honan, Hou. Geo. H- Brown, Ira CKelley, Syl. Haiey. W. G. Smoot, Jos. Sharp, Jasper Kenton, James Donnelly Jos. Q uite a large and enthusiastic meeting was held at the Sand Ridge school house, in Barkley township, Saturday evening, August 2nd, 1884, for the purpose of organizing a Cleveland and Hendricks Club- The organization was perfected by the election oi Austin N. Lakin Pres dent, and David W, Secretary A constitution was adopted, and thirty members enrolled, Speeches were unde by Ezia C. Nowels and James W. Douthit, anj songs by E. P. Honan aud others. Tne meeting adjourned to ratet again Saturday evening August 16th.
