THE OLDEST PRINTER. The Conneautville (Pa.) Courier. We find the fellowiug item in the New York Tribute: "The oldest pditor in Pennsylvania, and possibly the oldest printer in the United States is W. P. Elliott, of Lawistown, bora Jmi. 12th 1793, and who founded the Lewistuwn Gazette in 1811.” Ths above possesses a local Interest from the fact tSat William Power Elliott, the peisen referred to, is a nephew of the late Alex. Power, the founder of Conneautville. In 1814, after the close of the last war with England, among the ragged and footsore soldiers who passed through Conneuut Valley eu their way to Pittsburg and the East, was Mr. Elliott, who had left is printing office at Lewistown to battle for hit country, He came to his uncle’s here in a very sorry condition, leading a horse too poor for him to ride, his feet a mass of blisters and his clothing but little more than rags. He was taken io and oared for, cloth was procured from Meadville, the nearest point lor trading, and a suit of cloths made for him, new hoots were provided and aft*r three weeks of rest, he was given a fine young horse itraxehange for the old gra> and sent on his homeward way. a v'rry l«ng2 and tedious journey in those days. Whil§)at the ancampment o! the State Guard at Lewis town in August, 1882, W. A.
