The Committee on Territories has committed itself to the policy of suppressing the premature formation of States out of Territories, as was done in the case of Nevada, by agreeing to recommend the passage of Mr. Townshend's bill, which prohibits any Territory from framing a constitution or applying for admission into the Union until it shall have enough population to entitle it to representation in Congress. This would requiie about 160,000 people. f Nevada has but a little more than one-third of that number. Of 5,000 bills introduced in the House of Representatives, this session, 1,400 are for pensions. “I don’t think there is any show at all in the House, or Senate either, for the Reagan interstate commerce bill,” said Representative Robinson, of Ohio, in a conversation at Washington the other day.
