Music Teaching.

“I might have been something of - a musician,” said a lady, “but in my youth I was afflicted with an ill-natured music teacher, who frightened me out of all melody or capacity for learning it. I was always very sensitive, and she actually made me sick after the hour she gave me. It was simply torture. It disgusted me at the time with all music, and I begged my mother to let me off. She did so, and circumces prevented me from resuming the study. It has often occurred to me that children are sometimes repelled from certain studies and accomplishments through the lack of sympathy between them and those who are hired to teach them.” —New York Graphic.
