There is soma dissatisfaction felt toward our new School SuDerintend ent on the part of some who fuiled to secure license, but. we th.nk he has eniy dore his duty. Surely our teachers should endeavor to earn more than a six months’ license./ Jak. W. Conaid is at a loss to know why he does not get his premiums from the- Jasper County Fair. Adam Assessor elect of Gillam, has resigned for the reasor that he could not spars the time from his own affairs, and our very worthy young friend, Austin Rathfou, has been appointed by the Auditor to fill the vacancy. A more excellent appointment could not have teen made, Mr; R. is a young man of good judgment end will, we think, make a good Assessor. He is a Republican, but for all that some of the Stalwarts are inclined to kick. Some of our citizens have been sub poenaed to attend court at the capitol. TOPSY. DON’T FORGET ! At this writing there is a goodly number of Keener’s citizens enroute for Rensselaer to testify before the grand jury concerning the case of arson from this township. George S. Mr. G. has made one of the very best Tpwnship officers, He was first appointed by Auditor Nowels, and afterwards elected. Mr. Nowels has appointed Mr. Joseph Fairchild to fill the unexpired term. Mr. Fairchild is the right man for the place, being careful and safe; but as in the appointment of Mr, (TuiU, there are those who have words of censure for Mr. Nowels for m iking the apsoiritment. Mr. N. however, no doubt considered the best interests of the township in making it.
