SEPTEMBER 11th, 12th, 13th & 14th, 1883!
The Jasper County Agricultural Society will hold their 12th Annual Fair, and-the officers and directors are doing all in their power to make the’Fair of 1883 the best ever held in the county; and with the proper encouragement from farmers, stock-raisers, mechanics and artists, all that is expected can be accomnlished. Every farmer in the county that has products or stock of any kind that has merit should place them on exhibition. The premiums to be awarded are sufficiently large to bay well for the time and trouble, if such proucts or stock should'secure premiums, hnd if not, the ex* pense and trouble is small, and all should have so just a pride in the success of the enterprise as to cheerfully contribute specimens of handiwork, productions and stock. We have stock men in the county that are heeding as fine Norman and Clydesdale horses; Here ford, Short-horn and Jersey •cattle Shropshire,’■Southdown, Cotswold, Leicester and Merino sheep; Berkshire, Poland China and Jersey-Red swine, as are brSd in any part of the United States; and for fine poultry of our fanciers cannot be excelled.— Therefore, gentlemen, we say place the products of your shops and farms 2 and your stock on exhibition ana let the adjoining counties know what Jasper can do.
The Society hasfoffered liberal purses in the Speed Ring, and under the management or Superintendent Geo. M. Robinson, and Marshal Jas. Welsh, the grounds and stalls are being thoroughly repaired., A force is also at work on the Race Track, and we can say, without fear of contradiction, that a better half-mile track cannot be found in the State. The Department for exhibition of the products of Domestic Skill, Ornamental and Useful Needlework, products of Art, etc., etc., has been placed under the management and supervision of Madames Jas. Welsh and Moses B. Alter, and gives promise to be a most attractive part of the Fair. Norman Warner is Superintendent of the Poultry Dep’t. and those having choice bird* to exhibit need have no fears of unfair treattment, or that that their property will be neglected.
