There will be no Summer Normal at Rensselaer this year, owing to the impossibility of procuring u suitable room. The Teachers’ Institute wilj commence the latter part of August continuing two weeks. Superintendent Nelson attended the State Convention of County Su. perintendents, held at Indianapolis last week, Miss Ella Green, of St. Louis, Mo a native of this county, is in Rensselaer, visiting old friends. Dr. H. Z. Leonard, chairman of the National Greenback State Committee invites Nationals and members of the Jasper county Matioual Committee to meet him at Remington, for consultation, on Thursday, July 12 th. Judge Hammond ahd wife, with their son Willie, are spending this weex at Monticello. The Ladies’ Literary Society will meet at the residence of the Misses Smith oh Thursday of next week, at 2 o’clock, p. m. Bro. Marshall orated at Chicago on the 4th; Frank Sears, at Fair Oaks, and S. P. Thompson at some point on that line. Our people celebrated in different localities on the 4th—DeMotto, Rose Lawn, Monon, Monticello. Goodland and other points.
