Great Excursion.
The L. N-A. & C. Ky. Air Line Division, will run its first grand Excursion to Chicago on Saturday June 9thSpecial trains will leave Rensselaer at 7:31 a. m., and arrive at Chicago at 10:30 a ra. The fare for the round trip will be only $l5O from Renssel aer The sbecial trains will leave Chicago at 7.00 o’clock Saturday evening, but parties have privilege of remaining in Chicago until the 8:00 a. in. train of Monday. This will give everybody a chance to go and see the great Jumbo and Barnum’s show on Saturday, and to visit the great Railway Exposition, containing many exhibits of interest to everybody. You will have all day Sunday to go to church, or visit the many pleasant parks, and boulevards, for which Chicag# is famous. Make up your parties, and g ready for J ine 9th.

Senator Hoover and Barney patten* of jßemingtou, ' isited Rensselaer Monday. The Senator very highly commonded the successful candidate for School Superintendent, and did much toward smashing the slat pre pared by ths radioal “bosses.”
Communion services were held ia the Presbyterian Church on last Sabbath. The attendance was good, .though tne day was unfavorable by reason of a threatening storm. All was peace within, however, and a deep interest prevailed in the solemn service. There was an aecessio n of five members to the church by certificate, and there is an evident disposition on the part of the congre gation to do more work in this field. A united and vigorous effort cannot fail to meet with success; when accompanied with the aid and blessing ofjthe King and Head of the chureh #

Nelson was elected, much to the mortification and chargrin of the “bosses.” Part of the pro gramme of two years’ago, we under* staad, was delicately attempted to occurs the election of their pet. but abandoned when it was seen to be no possible go. T. C. Keerick, an attorney from Bloomington, Illinois, has been hero in attendance on coart in the eaus« of Hathaway vs. Hathaway. The School Board of the town was’ re-Ojganized on yesterday by the election of Mordecai F. ChllcQte. President; Ezra L- Clark, Treasurerand Dr. I- B. Washburn, Secretary. Hon. B. S. Dwiggins declined a reelection. Mr. Clark’s bond was fixed by the Auditor at. SIO,OOO.
Mr. Nelson, the School Superintendent elect, is a young gentleman of flue education, pleasing address, and devoted to ths cause of education. We predict he will meet the most sanguine expectations of his friends in the discharge of the duties of the office.
