A Good Foundation.
For making luminous paint the following has Dfion sirt*n: Take oyster shells and clean them with warm water; put them into the fire'for half an hour; at the end of that time take them out and let them cool. When ' quite cool pound them flue, and take away any gray parts, as they are of no use. Put- the po rder ih a cr«eible with alternate layers with flower of sulphur. Puton the lid and cement with sand made into a stiff paste with beer. When dry, put over the lire and bake tor an hour. Wait until quite cold before opening the lid. Tho product ought to be white. You must separate all gray parts, as they are not luminous Make a sitter in tbs following manner: Take n poi« put a piece of very fine mil*'*’ /cry loosely.across it, tie around v.l-h a string, put the powder it to th<- top, and rake about until tire only the ooarse powder remains; open the j ot and you will find a very small powder. Mix into it a thin paint with water, as two thin applications are better tba ono thick one, This will give paint that wiil remain luminous far into the night, provided it is exposed to the* light during the day. . ; REstbay Notice.— Taken up by John 8.
