SUN-STROKE
Begins with a pain in the head, or dizziness, quickly followed by loss of consciousness and complete pros tration. Sometimes, however the attack is as sudden as a stroke of ape plexy. The head is often burning hot, the face dark and swollen, and breathing labored and snoring, and the extremities cold. With such cases proceed as follows: Take the patient at once to a cool and shady plaee, but don't carry him far to a house or hospital. Loosen the clothes thoioughly about the neck and waist. Lay him down with the head a little raised. Apply wet clothes to the head and mustaidor turpentiue to the calves of the legs and soles of the feet. Give a little weak whisky and water if he can swallow. Meantime let some one go for the physician. Two ladies were talking of a waxfigure.show about to be opened here: One said, “There are to be costumes of every country since the creation of the world.” “Eve’s will not be hard to make.” “But it will be very hard to wear.” The Springfield Republican res marks: “Crack! crack! crack! the Democrats are firing Civil Service reform shots into the Republican camp.” The probabilities are that only reasonable bills will be allowed for Garfield’s funeral. The original amount, SIOO,OOO, has been reduced $48,000. Ti? said hot turpentine rubbed on the wound or bruise, will cure lockjaw. It may be well to remember this.
