FEW BETTER MEN.
Goodland Herald :—“Our old friend N. S. Bates is the Democratic candi date for Clerk in Jasper county— There are few better men than Nat Bates, aud we sincerely wish him success.” A full stock of Harps, Accordeons, Viol.ns, Violin Strings, Bows, and Bridges at Kannal’s. Remingtou News: Seldom are the voters of any township called upon to make a choice between opposing candidates, which is so hard to de termine, as are the citizens of Carpenter this year in choosing between the two candidates for County Clei'k, JasF, Irwin and N. S. Bates. In tho first place they are personal friends and have been for years. Both for many years residents of this township ans prominently before the people most of the time, both well qualified for the. position, of unquestioned honesty and integrity, aud both without an enemy so far as we have ever heard* No stain upon the record of either* and politics having so little to do with the proper performance of political duties, it will be a delicate matter for scores to decide between them. The two parties are to be eongratula ed upon their selections, and at the same time it is unfortunate that one of them must necessarily be beaten. Those who can see no good except wit in their own party lines, will of course make a direct political issue of the matter. But those who look to men rather than party will regret that ic is impossible to vote for both. One thing we are sure of. There will be no mud slinging so far as these two gentlemen are concerned. - Highest market price paid for all kinds of country produce at
