Death of Old Abe’s Carrier.
An Atchison, Kas., special says: A. H. Dillon, of •Sycamore Springs, died last Thursday on his farm. Death was caused by a gun-shot wound received during the war. He was amember of the Eighth Wisconsin Infantry and had charge of “Old Abe,” the noted eagle carried .during the war byithat regiment. He cornl- - immediately after the war to prosecute his pension claim, and went through the routine of proof five different times, and died without a pension. The Erway boy, whose sufferings from hydrophobia have been terriole, appears to be'getting better every day. Dr. Partridge, the attending physi clan, says there is a marked peculi arity in the boy’s case, and that is, he craves cigars. The boy’s father says he never knew him to use tobacco in any form He called for a cigar on last Wednesday for the first time, which was given him. He smoked it up without exhibiting the least signs of sickness from its effects, but, on the contrary, seemed greatly soothed.— He has smoked three or four cigars since, and each one seems to do him a great deal of good.—South Bend Tribune.
