Following close upon the revolution by whi h a Democrat was elected to fill the Wagner vacancy in the New York Senate come local elections as to the result of which the Republicans acknowledge surprise and regret. Tlie New York Times says : “Various municipal and town elections were held throughout the State, and the results are not particularly encouraging to those who are speculating on the chances of Republican success this fall. The city of Oswego, which gave a Republican majority of 250 in November, elects a Democratic Mayor by a majority of 170, and at other points there are evidences of Republican disunion or apathy.”
