Dr. Talmage's Experience With a Beggar.
In Philadelphia a man who had a family of ten children came to me and wanted to borrow fifteen dollars. I said to him: “I will not loan yon fifteen dollars, but I will give you fifteen dollars provided you will open a news-stand and support yourself. I know just where I nan get a position for you on the street for your news-stand, and I will give you the fifteen dollars if you will promise to expend it in the starting of that business.” He said he would take until the next day to think- about it.
