RESOLUTIONS OF RESPECT At a meeting of the members of ' the Bar and officers of the Jasper IC r ait Court h Id at the court house, l in Rensselaer, on Friday, Jan. 20. ■ for the purpose of paying proper I respects on the death of Elza I, [ Phillips, a roembH of this Bar, the following proceedings were had; It. Phillips, propose the following resolutions • First.—lt is with unfeigned sorrow that wo learn of the decease of one of tho junior members of the Rensselaer Bur, Elza I. Phillips, who departed this life at 3 o’clook A. M. on Wednesday, January 18th, A. D. 1882, at the homa of his parents in Rensselaer. Indiana. Second. —The brief period during which deceased was engaged in the practice of law in our midst he manifested a elear perception of elementary principles of legal science and in forensic efforts was a brilliant and effective speaker. By experience, and effort, he would no doubt if his life and health had been spared, won an enviable merit in his chosen pro feasion. Third.—By the untimely death of our brother, let us all be reminded cf the brevity of our careers in life, and tempea our work with the fruits of charitable friendship for all. Fourth.—As a token of respect we ask that these resolutions and the action of the bar thereon, be reearded in the Order book of the Jasper court and a copy duly certified under tin hand and seal of the court be transu. Fifth.—That out of respect for the deceased, court do adjourn at noon oa Thusday January 19th 1882 and that the officers of the cour and member of the bar attend the funeral in a body and that they meet at the Court house at 9 o’clock A.
