Wages in France.
Workmen aild workwomen in France live and thrive' on wages which would scarcely, keep soul and body together in this country. A French journal published a table showing that the average wages in fifty-one distinct trades were only 601-2 cents a day, or 83.63 a week. These were the wages of men. For women, the average in eleven trades is 31 1-4 cents a day, or $1,875 cents a week. Decorative sculptors—a class of highly skilled and intelligent workmen —receive only 92 7.8 cents a day. Such workmen hfcre-would probably earn from $4 to $5 per day.
