Shipments of stone from Bedford, the last three mouths, required 806 oars. Floyd county will soon have one of the most beautiful court-rooms in the State. James Hodge, a pioneer of Muncie, died lately at San Diego, Cal., aged 80 years. A great deal of fencing in the vicinity of tile railroads in Delaware county has been destroyed by tire. The Indiana State treasury received, during August, 042,444, and disbursed 063,625. It has a balance of 0947,803 on hand. Many cattle fed at the starch works at Columbus have beon stricken down by goison or some strange disease, it is not uown which. While coupling cars, at Frankfort, Chris Stanley was caught between tho bumpers andhorribly crushed, andMied two hours later. Christopher Quinn, a native of Troy, N. Y., a stove-molder by trade, while drunk, fell under a freight-car at Fort Wayne, and was instantly killed. A new cave has been discovered in Crawford county, about three-quarters of a mile from Wyandotte cave, with which it is believed to communicate. Homer Mayfield, of Spencer, a promising young mail about 23 years old, went fishing, and, while seining, got beyond his depth and was drowned. George Waggoner, the first settlor of Salt Creek township, and the oldest mail in Jackson county, died recently of malarial fever, at the age of 98 years. Over 0500,000 will be put iu the Wabash, St. Louis and Pacific shops at Antioch, near Fort Wayne. The yards are a mile and a half long, with twentyfivo tracks. A locomotive spark set fira to the dry prairie grass near Wolcott, and for a distance of about ten miles the flames spread with great rapidity. Tho damage is not less than 08,000. Dr. T. B. Elliott, once an editor of tho Indianapolis Journal, and who was largely instrumental in the development of the school system in Indiana, died at Los Angeles, Cal., recently. W. A. Hurt, alias James Smith, hailing from Indianapolis, was arrested in Vincennes for possessing and passing counterfeit coin. He had a pocket-book well filled with spurious coin. Walter Roberts, a Wayne county farmer, over 90 years old, was thrown from his chair in a spring wagon by his horse starting suddenly, and struck on his head and shoulders Concussion of the brain followed, and he died in a few hours.

A Wabash brakeman, named J. G. Long, was killed on the road near Logansport. He was pulling up a brake on a flat car, when the staff broke and threw him under tho cars. The wheels passed over his breast but did not sever the skin. His arms were both severed and his head injured, and death resulted instantaneously. Hugh Dolard has filed suit in the Tippecanoe County Court demanding 02,000 from the Lake Erie and Western railroad. Ho alleges that lie took a Beat in the defendant’s car to ride to Montgomery, tendering the conductor 30 cents, the customary sure. This sum the employe took and demanded 5 cents more, which the plaintiff promised to pay, but, before he did so, he claims tho conductor put him off, thereby delaying his arrival at Montgomery, whereby he lost a contract for well-digging.
