They will be joined by the Sheriff the first of next week. Mr. S. Lehman, of Delphi, is now in management of Ed. Brown’s merchant tailoring establishment at thi B place. He comes well recommended. Mr. Geo. Havens, pf the firm of Bates & Havens, grain dealers at thi s piace, is spending this week at Centerville, attending the wedding of his sister.

The Coanty Commissioners met in special session yesterday[andjadopted plans and specifications for the new jail. It will be an imposing looking building and is to be completed by January 1. 1882. - Henry I. Adams who has served the county efficiently as Treasurer for twp terms steps down and out to-day, and is succeeded by Dr. Moses B. Alter. We understand tiiat Holdridge Clark will be retained as Deputy.
Miss Hyland, of Goodland, who lias been visiting Mrs. E. 8. Woods for the past week, returned home last Wednesday. Miss Hyland is a verypleasant young lady, and made many friends during her short stay. F. L. Cotton has sold all his property except the elevator, which he has leased, and expects to retire from business in Rensselaer. He will probably engage in the wholesale lumber trade at Michigan City nex, spring.
