Mr. J. P. Gwiun| R. R. agent at Bradfoad, and wife, spent fiimday iu Rensselaer visiting their brother-in-law Peter Zca. Mr. Gwin returned Monday morning leaving his wife to spend a few days in Rensselaer. Among the improvements fit Rensselaer is one on a wind pump for supplying railroad tanks with water. The inventor is a resident of Rensselaer, and calls his patent Blind /■ - i<ai neuuirs euquirc of Peter Giver. The bridge carpenters of the C. & I. A. Ij. JR. R. left Renssbiaer Tuesday morning to commence work on the bridge across the Iroquois river north of town. 'They report the work progressing and that all the bridges along the line are now under way ot constructions. The vote in Jasper on the Constitutional Amendments is as follows: lor No. 1. 703 votes. Its greatly increasing proportions have compelled the removal of its headquarters from the Tribune Building to the very large and beautiful building, No. 764 Broad way, which isthe very midst of the “book district” of New York City, and therefore, of Ihe publishing enterprise of the nation. This building, though six stories in gheigbt 25 feet frontadnlOO lent deep is sufficient only for offices, and -retail, store of the company. The manufacturing is ct» r ried on in several large buildings located in other Darts of the city, though it is contenplatod concentrating them soon in one immense factory to be erected. Their li3t of recent and early forthcoming are extremely interesting to ail who enjoy what is choicest in literature. The Library Magazine is unique in both form and diameter and altogether delightful in the richness of its contents. Of the books announced, Green’s larger “History of the English People,” reduced from $lO toil; Carlysie’s“History of the French Revolution,” reduced to 40 cents: Carlysles “Heroes and Hero Worship,” 25 cents, and the “Revised New Testament,” which is promised to be manufactured with rapidity heretofore unheard of, will attract special attention. It is worth while for everyone who has not already seen it, to send and get the il- - pamphlet. “Book Making, and Type Setting by Steam,” which will be sent free upon application.
