Petition to Trustees.

To the Trustees of Jasper County: Whereas, The County Superintendent has seen fit to give the teacher® of the county encouragement to attend Institutes, Associations, take educational papers, and do other professional work, by giving them an increase of grades: and Whereas, The teachers of the county have organized an Association for their mutual benefit and improvement; and Whereas, It was found to be impossible te hold a meeting of the said Association during holidays; and Whereas, We feel that the holding of such an Association will result in great benefit to the teachers and schools of the county; Therefore, We. the undersigned, the Executive Committee of the Jasper County Teachers’ Association, do humbly and urgently request that you grant to each teacher employed by you, the 18th of March, 1881, as a holiday for attending a meeting of the Association. That day to be given only to such teachers as shall be reported to you by the Secretary as being present, and charged to all others.
